Erica Coulter
I am a birth doula located in Skagit County, but I attend births on Whidbey Island, and from Bellingham to the general Mount Vernon area. I attend home, hospital, and birth center births.
I teach Community Childbirth Education at The Holding Space in Anacortes, because I believe that it is important to bring people together, and classes should be affordable to all birthing people. I also teach private childbirth education, because I know schedules get busy and pregnancies can go by fast.
I have extensive training in peri and postnatal mood disorders. I believe that this time is very vulnerable for birthing people. I base my work on the premise that the way we treat women and families during pregnancy, birth and postpartum will be remembered for the rest of their lives. As doulas and birth workers, we can do a lot to protect that space and help a healthy bond and attachment grow after birth.
“I wish everyone could see that this is what birth can look like. It doesn’t have to be traumatic and scary. It can be support, and love and faith in the process.
It can be all of those things regardless of how a baby comes earth side. Home or hospital. Epidural or natural. Cesarean or vaginal. If you respect mothers, and you listen to them, birth is beautiful.” - Erica (Me) Oct 22, 2015
